ASCRIBE: Honoring the Written Hand

For Carolyn Arnold, the written hand has always been something deeply personal.

Her love of calligraphy began during her first semester at Winona State University and stayed with her through years of creating, studying different calligraphic hands, and eventually incorporating the art of writing into smaller works, note cards, and journals.

ASCRIBE grew from the belief that handwriting carries something a screen never can — a part of who we are.

When you write a note, send a card, or fill the pages of a journal, you are leaving your hand, your thoughts, and a piece of your story behind.

The name ASCRIBE came from a phrase Carolyn heard deeply within herself years ago: “A scribe unto the Lord.” It became an invitation to continue creating beautiful places for people to write, give, remember, and record the precious moments of their lives.

Carolyn’s ASCRIBE collection brings her original artwork together with the beauty of fine materials and hand-applied details.

Her limited-edition note cards are signed and numbered, with select designs featuring 24-karat gold leaf accents and Swarovski crystals.

The journals are works of art themselves — featuring Carolyn’s giclée artwork, hand-applied gilding, Italian handmade marbled papers, gold leaf, and Swarovski crystal details.
