ASCRIBE

Honoring the written hand.

There is something deeply personal about words written by hand. ASCRIBE celebrates the beauty, character, and connection found in handwriting through journals, note cards, calligraphy, and art created by Carolyn Arnold.

Put a Little of Yourself on the Page

A handwritten word carries something of the person who created it. A note tucked into a card. A thought recorded in a journal. A carefully formed letter created by hand.

ASCRIBE was created to honor those moments—and the beauty and individuality of the written hand.

In a world where so much communication has become digital, ASCRIBE invites us back to something personal: putting pen to paper and making our words unmistakably our own.

The Story Behind ASCRIBE

Carolyn Arnold’s love for the written hand began during her first semester at Winona State University, where an unexpected calligraphy class introduced her to basic italic lettering. The class was never offered again, but the art stayed with her.

Years later, Carolyn continued studying calligraphy through guilds in the Fort Worth area, exploring forms including uncial, gothicized italic, and blackletter. Her calligraphy eventually found its way into smaller, more personal creations—note cards and journals designed to be written in, shared, and kept.

Then ASCRIBE took on an even deeper meaning.

While walking one day, Carolyn recalled the words of Psalm 29:1: “Ascribe unto the Lord…” In that moment, she heard something more within the word ascribe: “a scribe.”

For Carolyn, it became a calling to continue creating with the written hand—to use the art she had carried with her for so many years in a way that honors God and invites others to write, share, and create something personal of their own.

From that moment came ASCRIBE: Honoring the written hand.
